Carbon in the form of a sheet one atom thick, with the carbon atoms arranged in a two-dimensional hexagonal lattice. Graphene is hundreds of times stronger than steel and is also a good conductor of heat and electricity. Research is looking into its use as a replacement for silicon in the manufacture of electronic devices. Early applications of graphene include touchscreens and 3D printer materials.
