A supercontinent that existed during the Mesoproterozoic era (1600–1000 Ma ago). It began to form about 2200 Ma ago, as smaller continents were drawn together and started to unite. When fully developed, Rodinia extended from about 60°N to the South Pole. The supercontinent began to break apart early in the Neoproterozoic era, leading to the later formation of another supercontinent, Pannotia.
