A network of diodes or transistors in a bridge arrangement to which a radiofrequency carrier and baseband signal are applied to produce a modulated RF signal. Alternative ring modulator circuits can be adapted from this basic circuit, using two nonlinear devices and a centre-tapped transformer to provide the full-wave switching characteristic.
