A means of characterizing an operational amplifier, defined as the product of the low-frequency or d.c. open-loop gain AL and the cut-off frequency fc; the diagram shows the open-loop gain response. The gain-bandwidth product is extensively used to compute the bandwidth (BW) of an amplifier when used in a closed-loop configuration:
