A factory for the purification of some crude or unprocessed material such as crude oil and sugar. Petroleum refining processes begin with distillation by boiling the crude oil into separate fractions or cuts. These cuts are then converted to changing the size and structure of the molecules through cracking, reforming, and other conversion processes, followed by various treatment and separation processes to remove undesirable components and improve product quality.
