释义
radiogenic

Physics
  • Denoting a material produced by radioactive decay, e.g. the lead formed from uranium. Radiogenic dating is a technique for calculating the age of an object by determining the ratio of the concentration of a particular radioisotope in the object to the concentration of its stable isotope. For example, in archaeology the age of objects, such as bones, can be estimated by finding the ratio of carbon–14 to carbon–12.

Astronomy
  • A term that describes something produced by radioactive disintegration. For example, radiogenic heating is the heating produced by energy released from the radioactivity of substances such as potassium, thorium, and uranium, usually in the interiors of planets. A radiogenic substance is one produced by the fission of a heavier substance.

Chemistry
  • Resulting from radioactive decay.

Chemical Engineering
  • Produced or resulting from radioactive decay.
