A series of India’s first indigenous weather satellites developed by the Indian Space Research Organization to monitor weather for agriculture and disaster management. The first launch (RISAT-2) occurred in April 2009 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre followed by the postponed RISAT-1 in April 2012 which is equipped with synthetic aperture radar.
