2. (in development) The process of becoming organized into a bundle, as in the bundling of axons to form a nerve. During nervous system development, the growth cones of successive axons are guided by a pioneering axon that has already ‘navigated’ the correct pathway (see guidepost cell).

3. A brief involuntary contraction of a group of muscle fibres.
