A time during which a spacecraft or satellite moves without power. During a space shuttle's launch of a satellite, the satellite's coast period after release is at least five minutes, before its thrusters ignite at the apogee of its orbit. Normally, a satellite is deployed into its orbit 3 hours and 28 minutes after lift-off.
