A company that developed and produces the Ariane rockets. Measured by sales, EADS is the third-largest aerospace company in the world, after Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Its diverse space work has included contributions to the Rosetta and Mars Express probes. Astrium, an EADS joint venture with the UK's BAE Systems, is the prime industrial contractor for the International Space Station (ISS), responsible for the Columbus laboratory, Europe's main contribution. Astrium helped develop the X-38 crew rescue vehicle, and the integrated cargo carrier (ICC). Five uncrewed supply vehicles, known as the Automated Transfer Vehicles (ATVs), were built by Astrium for the ISS from 2003 to 2014. IN 2014, EADS changed its name to Airbus: its portfolio ranges from the ExoMars rover and the European Service Module for the Orion spacecraft to the Ariane 5 launcher.
