The fifth-closest satellite of Saturn, distance 139 430 km; also known as Saturn XVI. It orbits Saturn in 0.613 days just outside Saturn’s A Ring and acts as a shepherd moon to the F Ring beyond it. Prometheus is irregularly shaped and 136 × 79 × 59 km in size. It was discovered in 1980 on images taken by Voyager 1.
