A circular image of a distant source produced by a gravitational lens. Theoretically, such an image can be produced when a point mass lies exactly on the line of sight to a distant galaxy or quasar. In practice, near-circular arcs have been detected in images of rich clusters of galaxies, and the radio emission from the quasar MG1654+1348 appears to have been lensed in this way.
