1. A triploid cultivar of the genus Musa (banana), commonly a hybrid of the wild species M. acuminate and M. balbisiana, that is starchier and less sweet than the dessert banana and is usually eaten cooked.
2. An annual or perennial herb of the genus Plantago (family Plantaginaceae) that has a rosette of leaves and a flower borne at the tip of a long stem. There are about 200 species found worldwide.
