A coefficient used in solvent extraction to quantify the extent of extraction between phases. It is evaluated as the concentration of the solute in the organic phase divided by the concentration in the aqueous phase. The distribution ratio can be a function of temperature and concentration of chemical species amongst other factors. It is also referred to as the partition coefficient.
