who shared the 1933 Nobel Prize with Erwin Schrödinger for developing Schrödinger’s nonrelativistic wave equation to take account of relativity (see Dirac equation). This modified equation predicted the existence and properties of the positron. Dirac also invented, independently of Enrico Fermi, the form of quantum statistics known as Fermi–Dirac statistics.
