specializing in the analysis of time series. Parzen, a graduate of Harvard U, gained his doctorate in 1953 at UCB. He held posts at Columbia U (1953), Stanford U (1956), SUNY (1970), and Texas A & M U (1978). At Stanford U Wahba was one of his research students. He was awarded the 1994 Wilks Award of the ASA.
