A member of group VI, symbol Te, atomic number 52, atomic weight 127.60; dark-gray crystals, insoluble in water, soluble in nitric and sulfuric acids and potassium hydroxide; melts at 452°C, boils at 1390°C; used in alloys (with lead or steel), glass, and ceramics.
