COMMUNICATIONS Any undesired energy that tends to interfere with the reception of desired signals. Also known as electrical interference; radio interference. PHYSICS The variation with distance or time of the amplitude of a wave which results from the superposition (algebraic or vector addition) of two or more waves having the same, or nearly the same, frequency.
