单词 | Bellcore (Bell Communications Research) |
释义 | Bellcore (Bell Communications Research) The research and development arm of the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs), Bellcore was formed in 1984 under the terms of the Modified Final Judgement (MFJ), which forced AT&T to divest the Bell Operating Companies (BOCs). Bellcore originally focused on standards development, test procedures, and operations support system (OSS) development, rather than the physical sciences. Bellcore was privatized and acquired by SAIC in 1998, as the interests of the RBOCs were no longer common in a deregulated, competitive environment. The name was changed to Telcordia Technologies in April 1999, with the stated focus of emerging technologies.Telcordia is now a private, standalone organization involved in the development of OSSs and network management software, as well as consulting, testing services, and research services.
