VPIM (Voice Profile for Internet Mail) A specification from the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for transporting voice mail over TCP/IP networks, including the public Internet,VPIM superseded the Audio Messaging Interchange Specification (AMIS).VPIM wraps ADPCM-encoded voice messages in Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) message parts and uses Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) to send them over TCP/IP networks.
