单词 | trailer |
释义 | trailer 1. Something pulled by or following something else, e.g., a boat trailer or house trailer is pulled by a car or truck. 2. Also known as the tail or trace portion of the data set. The portion of a data block, cell, frame, or packet that succeeds the text field and contains information relative to message analysis, including message tracking and diagnostics. The trailer often includes an error detection and correction mechanism to manage the integrity of the transmitted data. See also block, cell, data format (illustration), frame, header, packet, and text field. 3. An advertisement for a feature-length motion picture, generally consisting of short extracts of the film, and shown either in conjunction with another feature film or on entertainment television. A trailer originally was attached to the end of a film, hence the term trailer. When studio executives discovered that most audience members left after the conclusion of the feature films, rather than staying to watch the trailers, they moved the trailers to the beginning of the films, but the name stuck. Mystery solved. You are most welcome. |
