sponsored domain In the Internet Domain Naming System (DNS), a Top Level Domain (TLD) that has a sponsor representing the narrower community that is most affected by the TLD. Examples include .aero, sponsored by Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques (SITA), and .jobs, sponsored through an alliance between Employ Media, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM),Verisign, and ICANN.
