DMT (Discrete MultiTone) Also known as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). A modulation technique that splits the signal into a stream of data symbols for massively parallel simultaneous transmission over 256 or more narrowband, low data rate subcarrier frequencies, each of which is a voice grade channel with a width of 4 kHz. DMT is used in IEEE 802.11a (Wi-Fi5), 802.11g (Wi-Fi), and 802.16 (WiMax) wireless systems, as well as asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) and broadband over power line (BPL) technologies.
