One of up to about 20 plants, most belonging to the aster family (Asteraceae). The common daisy (Bellis perennis) is a small, perennial, summer-flowering herb with creeping rhizomes and rosettes of leaves that grow close to the ground. The inflorescences are capitula, with yellow disc florets surrounded by white, often pink-tipped, ray florets. It is native to Europe, but widely naturalized elsewhere.
