An object in the Kuiper Belt with a mean distance from the Sun greater than about 41 au and an orbit of low eccentricity; also known as a main Kuiper Belt object or classical Kuiper Belt object. Unlike the Plutinos, Cubewanos are not in a resonance with Neptune. Most known objects in the Kuiper Belt fall into this category. The first such object to be discovered, 1992 QB1, now numbered (15760), was the first known member of the Kuiper Belt; it has a perihelion of 40.84 au, aphelion 46.57 au, inclination 2°.2, and period 288.9 years. The name Cubewano comes from the pronunciation of ‘QB1’.
