A shrub from the acacia family. It is found in a small area in New South Wales, but has been widely planted throughout Australia. It easily escapes into surrounding bushland and hybridizes with other wattles. It is used for food for bees in the production of honey, and is also sometimes used in the cut-flower industry. The town of Cootamundra has an annual Wattle Time Fair and Street Parade held on the last Saturday in August.
