The study of the socially and spatially uneven impacts of economic, political, cultural, and social processes on children, and the ways in which these are experienced and responded to by individuals and groups. Matthews and Limb (1999) PHG 23, 61 propose an agenda highlighting different aspects of children’s relationship with their physical and built environment, beyond the home, school, and playground. They emphasize the experiences of children and how they see the world around them. Jeffrey (2009) PHG 33, 19 offers a comparative perspective on some of the challenges facing children and young people across the world, focusing especially on young people’s practices in the fields of education and employment, as well as discussing conceptual frameworks for analysing children and young people’s behaviour.
