A person who is both academically and professionally qualified in chemical engineering. A chartered chemical engineer has a proven ability to work at a high level without supervision to solve complex engineering problems, develop new or existing technologies through innovation, creativity, and change. He or she may be involved in pioneering or promoting advanced designs and design methods, work on new and more efficient production techniques, marketing and construction concepts, engineering services, and management methods. A chartered chemical engineer is also engaged in technical and commercial leadership. The person is entitled to use the post-nominal letters CEng after his or her name, and will also be a member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
