Invested as Prince of Wales in 1969 and acceded to the throne in 2022, he served in the Royal Navy (1971–76), and married Lady Diana Spencer (see diana, princess of wales) in 1981. They had two children, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis (born 1982) and Prince Henry Charles Albert David (‘Harry’, born 1984). The couple publicly announced their separation in 1993 and divorced in 1996. Charles married Camilla Parker-Bowles in 2005.
