The observatory of the Armenian Academy of Sciences, founded in 1946 by V. A. Ambartsumian. It is located at Mount Aragats near Yerevan, Armenia, at an altitude of 1500 m. Its main instruments are a 2.6-m reflector opened in 1976, and a 1-m Schmidt opened in 1960.
