A Latin American common market agreed in 1991 by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname currently have associate member status, with New Zealand and Mexico as observer countries. From June 2012 to July 2014, Paraguay’s membership was suspended. Venezuela were suspended in December 2016. MERCOSUR contains the majority of the population of Latin America.
