A catalogue published in 1997 containing positions and two-colour photometry of 1 058 332 stars, compiled from observations made by the star-mapping instrument on the Hipparcos satellite. In 2000 the improved Tycho-2 Catalogue was issued, based on a reanalysis of the original star-mapper data, giving positions, motions, brightness, and colours of 2 539 913 stars down to magnitude 12.5.
