A queen of the Britons, ruler of the Iceni tribe in eastern England. When Rome broke the treaty made with King Prasutagus (her husband) after his death in 60 ad, Boudicca led her forces in revolt against the Romans and sacked Colchester, St Albans, and London before being completely defeated by the Roman governor Suetonius Paulinus. She committed suicide soon after her defeat, but her name became a symbol of native resistance to the Roman occupation.
