An aeromedical sensor introduced by NASA for its Mercury project flights. There were four sensors taped to the astronaut's chest for electrocardiograph readings, a thermistor in the helmet to check respiration rate and depth, an arm cuff to monitor blood pressure, and a rectal probe for body temperature. The data was transmitted to flight surgeons on the ground.
