A treaty signed in Rome in 1957 that established the European Economic Community. A second treaty signed at the same time established the European Atomic Energy Community. The treaties were signed by representatives of Belgium, France, the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. See also European Union.
