The monitoring the path of a spacecraft from tracking stations on the ground. It is carried out by radio frequencies and radar. An example is NASA's deep-space network for space probes. Systems that use satellites to track other spacecraft are NASA's Tracking and Data-Relay Satellite system and the European Space Agency's Data-Relay and Technology Mission.
