A constellation of the southern sky, representing a wolf. Its brightest star is Alpha Lupi, of magnitude 2.3. The constellation contains a variety of double stars, notably Epsilon, Eta, Kappa, Mu, Xi, and Pi Lupi; NGC 5822 is a 6th-magnitude open cluster, and NGC 5000 a 7th-magnitude globular cluster.
