Lying between the Indian and Eurasian Plates, the Tibetan Plate consists of two continental blocks, northern Tibet and southern Tibet, divided by a suture with ophiolites. Most of the Cenozoic deformation of this part of the Indian–Eurasian collision has been to the south of Tibet, in the Himalayas.
