A form of computer-mediated conferencing where participation in a conference does not require the participants to come together at the same time. A typical example of this is newsgroups. With this form of conferencing, messages can be sent at any time and read at any time: they do not need to be interlaced or replied to immediately as with synchronous computer-mediated conferencing.
