A constellation on the celestial equator, representing an eagle. It is marked by the bright star Altair (Alpha Aquilae), flanked by Beta Aquilae (Alshain) and Gamma Aquilae (Tarazed). Eta Aquilae is one of the brightest Cepheid variables, ranging from magnitude 3.5 to 4.3 with a period of 7.2 days.
