A device that prints text or graphical images onto paper or plastic film. It consists of a laser beam directed at a rotating drum, so that the electrical charge on the drum is changed where it is struck by the beam. The drum, as it rotates, passes through a tank of toner (particles of ink in powder form). Where the drum is charged it picks up ink. The drum then contacts the paper or film to be printed and transfers the ink to the paper or film through heat and pressure.
