A constellation of the zodiac, representing a bull. The Sun passes through Taurus from mid-May to the third week of June. Its brightest star is Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri). Beta Tauri is Elnath. The constellation contains two large, bright open clusters, the Hyades and the Pleiades. Theta Tauri is a wide double in the Hyades, magnitudes 3.4 and 3.8. Within Hind’s Variable Nebula lies T Tauri, the prototype of a class of young variable stars. M1 is the famous Crab Nebula, a supernova remnant. The Taurid meteors radiate from the constellation from early October to the end of November every year.
