The curve connecting regions in a comet’s dust tail which contain particles of identical size; also known as the syndyne. Particles with diameters of around 1 μ‎m are subject to the influence of radiation pressure, which leads to sorting on the basis of size; smaller particles are carried further from the nucleus by radiation pressure in a given time and therefore have a syndyname farther from the Sun than do large particles.
