A coarse-grained igneous rock consisting of essential alkali feldspar, calcium-rich plagioclase, and ferromagnesian minerals (augite and biotite), and accessory apatite. The two feldspar types are in equal proportions. The rock is mineralogically half-way between a gabbro and a syenite.
