单词 Nobeyama Radio Observatory
释义
Nobeyama Radio Observatory

Astronomy
  • The radio observatory of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, 120 km west of Tokyo at an altitude of 1350 m, founded in 1978. Its main instruments are a 45-m millimetre-wave dish opened in 1982, and the Nobeyama Millimeter Array (NMA), an aperture-synthesis array of six 10-m antennas movable along two intersecting 500-m baselines. The millimetre array was opened in 1986 with five dishes; the sixth dish was added in 1993. The NMA and the 45-m dish can work together to form an interferometer called RAINBOW. Also at the same site is the Nobeyama Radioheliograph, which consists of 84 dishes of 0.8-m aperture in a T-shaped array, opened in 1992. The Observatory also operates the Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment in Chile.
