A scientific and educational society founded in 1839 in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the second oldest professional society in the USA. Its current headquarters are in Alexandria, Virginia. The Association has nearly 18 000 members. It publishes seventeen journals, including the Journal of the American Statistical Association and the American Statistician. Since 1965 the Wilks Medal has been presented annually for distinguished contributions to Statistics.
