His four space shuttle flights include the Atlantis mission in January 1997 to dock with the Russian space station Mir for the second exchange of astronauts. In November 2000, he flew with the Endeavour mission to assemble the International Space Station. His 2004 shuttle flight was postponed after the 2003 Columbia space shuttle disaster. He travelled again to the ISS aboard space shuttle Atlantis in September 2006 for a 12-day mission. Jett was selected as an astronaut in 1992 and left NASA in 2013. During his career, he logged more than 669 hours in space.
