Glacial landforms with a pronounced asymmetric profile—an abraded slope on the up-ice side (stoss), and a steeper rougher quarried slope on the down-ice side (lee) that has both abraded and quarried surfaces. Individual examples are commonly known as roches moutonnées (Glasser and Bennet (2004) PHG 28, 1).
The term may be applied to sand ripples (Zheng in R. Allen, U. Förstner, and W. Salamons 2009).
