A type of tektite found in Russia. Irghizites are divided into two chemical types. Acidic irghizites contain around 70% SiO2 and high Ni and Cr contents; basic irghizites contain around 50% SiO2 and much lower amounts of Ni. They are apparently related to the one-million-year-old Zhamanshin impact structure in Kazakhstan, central Asia.
