The extrusion of a small volume of viscous lava from a crack or opening on the solidified surface of a lava flow, in response to the pressure of fluid lava within the flow interior. Squeeze-ups are generally bulbous or linear in form, range from a few centimetres to several metres in height, and may have vertical grooves down their length.
